Web Site Submission
- The Google Directory uses data from the Open Directory Project, which is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a global community of volunteer editors.
- The Open Directory powers the core directory services for the Web's largest and most popular search engines and portals, including Netscape Search, AOL Search, Google, Lycos, HotBot, DirectHit, Ask, Clusty, Gigablast, Lycos, MSN, WiseNut, Yahoo, and hundreds of others.
- Suggest a site for addition to the Open Directory Project at dmoz.org/add.html.
- Add your URL to the Google index. You may also add comments or keywords that describe the content of your page.
- Netscape listing is via the Open Directory Project only.
- Submit your website to MSN Search.
- The Open Directory Project handles all free web site submissions for AOL.
- AltaVista and AlltheWeb use the Yahoo search engine.
- You must sign up for a Yahoo account before you can do a free submission to Yahoo Submit Your Site. Free Yahoo Search submissions are accepted only for non-commercial sites. Listing in the Yahoo Directory is not free.
- Scrub The Web is one of the top ten search engines and accepts free submissions.
- SearchSight gives you the power to determine how your web page will be listed and the phrases and keywords that your web page will be found under. SearchSight.com uses the title, description, and page text found on your web page as the title and description in your listing.
- For free submission to ExactSeek you have to sign up and subscribe to SiteproNews newsletter, a very useful resource for keeping up to date with the issues of interest to webmasters. You can submit up to ten URLs.
- Entireweb is another popular search engine that accepts free web site submissions.
- SeoPlus.com provides a useful link list to web submission sites. Despite what people would have you believe, there are not thousands of search engines - at least not thousands that are worth submitting your pages to.
- FreeWebSubmission.com provides free manual and auto submission to the 50 highest-rated, free Internet Search Engines and Directories.
- NZPages is a web site directory that lists only sites that are built for New Zealanders. Inclusion in this directory is free, but you must provide a link back to NZPages.
- Finda is a New Zealand local business web site directory. Inclusion in this directory is free.
Blog Submission
- Submit your blog to the Blog Flux Directory. You can add keywords and a decription of your blog, and select up to ten direcotory categories for your blog.
- Submit your blog to the Open Directory Project: Weblogs. Select the appropriate sub-category and then suggest a URL.
- The Google Directory: Weblogs uses the Open Directory Project data.
- The Yahoo Directory: Weblogs accepts free blog submissions, but you must first sign up for a Yahoo account before you can do a submission.
- Add your blog to the directory at TopBlogArea.com. Visitors can rate your blog, and a good rating will improve your blog's ranking in the directory.
RSS/XML Feed Syndication
- You will need to register and login to Syndic8 for a free feed submission.
- Submit your feed to WeBlogALot. Add only the URL of the feed and the URL of your blog will be read from the feed.
- Submit your feed to FeedNuts. Add RSS, Atom, Podcast and Blog in one action.
- Feeds4All. Each submission goes through an approval process. You must place a link to Feeds4All on your blog.
